The Role of Student Organizations in Fostering Social Leadership and Civic Engagement among Students at SMA Ma'arif Kroya

Student organizations play an important role in developing social leadership and civic engagement among students. This study aims to examine the contribution of student organizations to the formation of these co competencies at SMA Ma'arif Kroya. A qualitative case study approach was employed, with data collected through observations, interviews with student organization leaders (OSIS and IPNU-IPPNU), student affairs advisors, and school documentation. The findings indicate that student organizations provide effective leaming opportunities for students to develop leadership, communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills. Deliberative practices (musyranth) within. organizational activities encourage respect for diverse opinions and collective problem-solving. In addition, social and religious programs strengthen students' social awareness and community involvement. The study concludes that student organizations function not only as extracurricular activities but also as significant platforms for character. development and civic engagement rooted in Islamic values and participatory culture.
